PROCEDURE FOR MAKING NEW/FRESH DOMICILE CERTIFICATE (KPK) :
A Domicile/Residence Certificate is
generally issued to prove that the person bearing the
Certificate is a Domicile/Resident of the State by which the
Certificate is being issued. This Certificate is required as
proof of residence to avail Domicile/Resident Quotas in
educational institutions and in the Government Service, as also
in case of jobs where local residents are preferred.
You are here to know about how to make
domicile for you or your ward in one of the known province of
Pakistan named as Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (formerly NWFP). Well
making a new/fresh domicile is not a big issue, it is as simple
as admitting your ward in any school at primary level if you
follow the following mentioned steps :
Ø
The Domicile Certificate application forms are available at all
book stores.
Ø
Now place your one
colored passport size photograph on Domicile Certificate Form
where it is mentioned on the form.
Ø
Fill up your credentials/data as per required in the form and
sign it.
Ø
Now you have to fill the Affidavit Section on the form (most
probably on back side of form) and sign it from Public Notary.
Ø
You will find a section under the heading “School Certificate”
which is to be filled up by the Headmaster or Principal of the
primary school you passed, according to their records.
Ø
The next step you have to move to the person conventionally
known as “POTWARI” who will confirm you on the basis of your
land or house hold (in case if non of your parents is domiciled)
at the empty space at the end or any space allocated for, if
your parents (father/mother) is domiciled attach one of their
domicile’s photocopy.
Ø
Now when you have filled up the whole form get to the respective
Union Council to which you belong and sign your form from Nazim
and Naib Nazim.
Ø
Finally go to the Magistrate office submit your Domicile
Certificate form, it will be countersigned by District Officer
and Deputy District Officer of Revenue and Estate.
Ø
Your Domicile is ready and you can finally receive it from
Magistrate office within 3-7 working days depending on work load
in office.

Applicants NIC/Form B

For applicants who migrated to Pakistan from India before April
14, 1951, a residential certificate from a government officer/
senator/MPA/MNA/member of a municipal committee or district
council of the district
ü
For migrants from the former East
Pakistan or any other district, the original domicile
certificate must be surrendered and the prescribed procedure
must be followed for making new domicile in new district.
Domicile Certificate can be made only in one State. Obtaining
Domicile Certificate from more than one State is an offence.
PROCEDURE FOR DUPLICATE DOMICILE CERTIFICATE:
In case of loss of your domicile
certificate. you need to follow the following easy steps to
ensure your duplicate domicile certificate.
Ø
First you need to go to the nearest police station or better to
the police station falling in jurisdiction of Union Council from
which you belong to make an First investigation Report (FIR) of
your lost original domicile certificate.
Ø
Secondly you should write an application about your lost
domicile certificate and submit it in Magistrate office to
inform the issuing authorities.
Ø
You will be issued a duplicate domicile certificate within a
minimum of 3 working days.
PROCEDURE FOR CANCELLATION OF DOMICILE CERTIFICATE:
If your present and permanent address
are not the same and you have made a domicile on your present
address and you want to change your domicile to your permanent
address or you have travelled from one district or city to
another district or city and want to be domiciled of the new
place you need to follow the following steps.
First you need to cancel
your domicile of the region you lived previously, for which:

You have to write an application to domicile issuing authorities
of your previous region for the cancellation of your previous
domicile clearly mentioning your reasons.
Ø
You are required to surrender your previous domicile certificate
in its respected Magistrate office along with the application.
Ø
Your case will be studied thoroughly, if needed your domicile
will be considered cancelled from the date onwards for the
specific district.
Ø
If now you are willing to make new domicile for your-self of
different area or region you have to follow the steps clearly
stated under the heading “PROCEDURE FOR MAKING FRESH DOMICILE” .
